Spinal Trauma
Trauma to the spine may cause injuries involving the spinal cord, vertebrae, or both. Occasionally, the spinal nerves are affected. The anatomy of the spinal column is reviewed elsewhere. Spinal cord injurie may be complete or incomplete. Spinal cord injuries occur when blunt physical force damages the vertebrae, ligaments, or disks of the spinal column, causing bruising, crushing, or tearing of spinal cord tissue, and when the spinal cord is penetrated (eg, by a gunshot or a knife wound). Such injuries can also cause vascular injury with resultant ischemia or hematoma (typically extradural), leading to further damage. All forms of injury can cause spinal cord edema, further decreasing blood flow and oxygenation. Damage may be mediated by excessive release of neurotransmitters from damaged cells, an inflammatory immune response with release of cytokines, accumulation of free radicals, and apoptosis.
Nerve Root Block
A nerve root block is an injection of local anesthetic (numbing medicine) and steroid injected under X-ray guidance into the area where the nerve exits the spinal column. A nerve root block is usually ordered by your doctor for pain in the arm or leg that follows the path of a single nerve. A nerve root block may be diagnostic (a test to determine the source of your pain) and/or therapeutic (to relieve your pain). If you get a period of sustained pain relief from the injection, the block may be repeated. Sometimes the block is done to help identify whether or not surgery might be helpful and at what level such surgery might be most helpful.
Vertebroplasty
Vertebroplasty is an outpatient procedure for stabilizing compression fractures in the spine. Bone cement is injected into back bones (vertebrae) that have cracked or broken, often because of osteoporosis. The cement hardens, stabilizing the fractures and supporting your spine. For people with severe, disabling pain caused by a compression fracture, vertebroplasty can relieve pain, increase mobility and reduce the use of pain medication. We provide satisfactory and standard procedures and make sure these procedures provide benefits over more conservative approach including bed rest, pain relievers, muscle relaxants, back braces and physical therapy.

Orthopedic Trauma
Orthopedic trauma is a serious injury to any part of your musculoskeletal system following a traumatic incident involving a collision or crushing force. This is especially common among car accident victims, athletes, and patients who are weak or have brittle bones. These injuries may or may not be life-threatening, but they always need highly specialized medical care. For instance, patients with multiple broken bones or compound fractures will benefit from the unique capabilities of orthopedic trauma medicine practitioners and orthopedic trauma surgeons. Our surgeons follow their patients’ recovery and are there to oversee or track every phase of care. A patient who has experienced orthopedic trauma is at risk of infection, blood loss, permanent injury, disability, or even death, so continuity of care is imperative.

Â
SPINAL SURGERY
Minimally invasive methods will be attempted first to address your pain or debilitating back issues, such as pain injections. If these do not solve the problem, then your orthopedist may perform minimally invasive spine surgery.
- Â Lumber discectomy and lumbar fusion.
- Â Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF).
- Â Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF).
- Â Removal of any bone spurs.
- Â Minimize pressure on the nerves.
- Â Root cause treatment of spinal pain, numbness and any weakness.

Â
VERTEBROPLASTY
Vertebroplasty is a procedure in which a special cement is injected into a fractured vertebra — with the goal of relieving your spinal pain and restoring your mobility. Not all people with fractured vertebrae are candidates for the procedure, however.
We provide:
- Â Treatment of fractured vertebra.
- Â Treatment of severe or prolonged pain.
- Â Treatment of immobility
- Â Treatment of vein thrombosis.
- Â Treatment of osteo acceleration
- Â Removal of bony walls of vertebrae.

 SPINAL TRAUMA
Spinal Trauma — damage to any part of the spinal cord or nerves at the end of the spinal canal (cauda equina) — often causes permanent changes in strength, sensation and other body functions below the site of the injury.
In such cases, we deal with:
- Â Spinal Fracture – (Cervical & Lumbar)
- Â Facet Dislocation.
- Â Spinal Cord Syndromes.
- Â Injuries that involve head.
- Â Pelvic Fractures.
- Â Fractured Vertebra.

Â
SPINAL INJECTIONS
Spinal injections are used in two ways. First, they can be performed to diagnose the source of back, leg, neck, or arm pain (diagnostic). Second, spinal injections can be used as a treatment to relieve pain (therapeutic).
Most spinal injections are performed as one part of a more comprehensive treatment program.
- Â Epidural Injections
- Â Facet Joint Injections
- Â Sacroiliac Joint Injections
- Â Provocation Diskography

Â
CERVICAL TRAUMA
A fracture, or break, in one of the cervical vertebrae is commonly called a broken neck. Cervical fractures usually result from high-energy trauma, such as automobile crashes or falls. In elderly people, ground-level falls, such as falling off a chair, can result in a cervical fracture. We provide treatment for such trauma that highly depends on the situation.
- Â Wearing a Neck Brace or Collar for up to 8 weeks will help you with minor level injuries.
- Â In case of severe or unstable fracture, you might need traction. Traction allows for very little movement. You’ll have to wear rigid braces or a halo vest to steady your spine for up to 12 weeks.
- Â A lot of damage to your neck, spine, and the vertebrae may need surgery. Surgical procedures can reconnect pieces of bone, repair vertebrae on your spine, relieve pressure on your spinal cord and remove damaged vertebrae discs.

Â
ORTHOPEDIC INJECTIONS
The goal of orthopaedic injection therapy is to provide the patient with enough pain relief from orthopaedic problems – such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or sports injury – to help transition from inactivity to physical therapy. Our orthopaedic specialists utilize injections to help increase a patient’s mobility and break the pain cycle that often persists after an injury.
- Â Corticosteroid Injections.
- Â Hyaluronic acid or gel injections
- Â Toradol – an alternative to speroid injections.
- Â Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP
- Â Stem Cell Injections
